Day 2 - Feb 2nd - Supposedly Delhi

We woke up in the rather uncomfortable Travelodge bed which dipped in the middle before making our way to the restaurant for breakfast. We gorged ourselves on various buffet breakfasts stuffs and filled our pockets with individual sachets of Marmite (just for you Steph!) and watched the chavvy lads drinking pints of lager with JD chasers (discretely of course) at 8.30am.

Flying TicTac
At the airport we were told that the plane was full and were asked if we would be willing to volunteer to defer to the following day. Since this came with compensation and a hotel stay, we kindly agreed. Several hours and £10 worth of free refreshment coupons later, we were on our way and £1006 less in debt. We took a quick detour to go on the 'Heathrow pod' - this only went to the business carpark and back but was like a giant flying TicTac so we couldn't resist - Matt for the technology and Anji for the speedy TicTacness!

Our enormous free bed
The Renaissance Hotel looked like a real dive from the outside (think Communist Russia) but was quite grand inside. Matt got carried away and indulged in a bell boy and we both looked rather out of place in our fleeces next to the Prada wearing clientele. Anji tried to torture Matt by booking 'We Will Rock You' theatre tickets but felt guilty since Matt hates musicals and Queen and so simply annoyed the concierge by thinking better of it and declining the tickets he'd managed to secure.

Now, we are just chilling out before heading to the restaurant for our free dinner and may go town later. Either that or we noticed we're near to the business car park so we may try to get in and ride the pod again.

  1. Yea the renaissance hotel is where me and becky stayed when we went to see "love never dies" in london. Looks horrid from the outside (mucho concrete from the 70's hehe) but wow that lobbey with the piano and chandelier! You're in for a treat too the beds are sublime, best night sleep i'd had in ages. And like wow u got money back from a airline? How clever r u guys?!!
    Much love amelia xx

    1. Not very clever it would seem! I just called housekeeping for more milk (topping up on nice tea), bubble bath and some big towels. When they arrived, I not only realised we already had big towels, but in the excitement of mini toiletries I accidentally put conditioner on my face!
It is nice here though. The food at dinner was great- so good we stuffed ourselves and now I'm still too full and giddy to go to sleep, despite an early start.
Hope you're both good. Give each other a hug for me.

    2. Good to know your marmite levels won't suffer for a little while. I have stayed at the free hotel, know exactly what you mean about how it looks! You can get a good view of the planes taking off if you end up in the right room though.
